While most of the country if not the world is well past COVID-19 fatigue, the virus remains a threat to many. The 7-day average of daily deaths exceeds 500 and the 7-day average daily hospitalization count is around 25,000. In addition to the deaths and hospitalization, there remain real costs in the form of lost work- and school-days as well as continued concerns regarding long-COVID. In short, the virus is still imposing a significant burden on society.
