You can choose a doctor the same way you choose where to buy a sandwich – but should you?
Proponents say online health care reviews, like those found on Yelp, can give patients a more rounded view when choosing a doctor, and that health systems in turn can leverage the praise and critiques from users to improve patient experience and care.
"Of all the people trying to disrupt health care, Yelp has enabled people to do it themselves with a website that we thought was just for restaurants," Amy Shefrin, a program officer for the New York State Health Foundation, said Thursday during a featured discussion at the annual Health Datapalooza conference in Washington.
