The NIH announced $70 million from the BRAIN initiative, nearly doubling its investment in the research program, and $16 million in awards that will go to four regional medical centers that will implement the Precision Medicine Initiative Cohort Program.

“Just as the seeds for these breakthroughs were planted decades ago, President Obama's visionary investments in biomedical research, medicine, health, and the life sciences have set the stage for the cures, treatments, and innovations of the future,” the White House said in a statement.
