CDC: Cat-Scratch Disease Poses Higher Risk Than Once Thought

Snuggling and kissing a cat is wonderful, but it can come with a risk.


According to a study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cat-scratch disease, also known as cat-scratch fever, poses higher risks than previously thought.


The disease, which is a bacterial infection, can be transferred to humans through, as the name suggests, cat scratches, and also possibly bites, the report explains. Cats can also transfer the disease by licking a human's open wound.
