Bertolini Downplays Aetna ACA Losses

The Obamacare exchange policies stood at 911,000 at the end of the first quarter, out of 1.2 million individual insurance policies. Bertolini said the company expects to break even on exchange business this year.

Bertolini also encouraged analysts to think differently about Obamacare losses since the program launched.

"If we were to go out and buy those members it would cost us $1.2 billion to buy them," he said, as well as an estimated $750 million to enter markets.
