Imprimis Pharmaceuticals announced Wednesday that it plans to take aim at a second drug with a stratospheric Martin Shkreli-imposed price, Thiola, for kidney stones.
Company CEO Mark Baum says Imprimis has developed a patent-pending alternative to Thiola, made by San Diego-based Retrophin LLC. Thiola is prescribed to treat inherited cystinuria, an oversupply of the amino acid cysteine in the urine, which crystallizes to form chronic kidney stones.
