CDC: Percent Uninsured Falls to Single Digits

An estimated 9% of Americans were uninsured in the first half of 2015, a significantly lower rate than in years before the health law was in effect, according to new federal government figures published Thursday.

The percentage translates to about 28.5 million people in the U.S. who were without health coverage, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics, which interviewed people between January and June and asked them if they had insurance at that moment.
