Consumers shopping for health insurance on healthcare.gov will see premiums increase by an average of 7.5 percent, according to data released by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Monday. Open enrollment begins on Sunday, Nov. 1.

But these averages mask wide variations from state to state and within states. The map above shows the average change to premiums for the second-lowest-cost silver plan in each state. These plans are the baseline insurance policies that the IRS uses to calculate subsidies that are available to low-income consumers.

HHS only released data for the 37 states that use the federal marketplace. The other 13 states and D.C. operate their own health insurance marketplaces.

The Kaiser Family Foundation has released similar data for several of the nation's largest cities.
